The reply rate across 300 films, from 30 people.

One friend was sending 100 applications a week and hearing back from 12% of the people he wrote to. With a film for each company, 54% replied, and he landed an offer. I built coldopen for my own job search: in my first week, 9 of the 15 people I sent a film to wrote back.

Every film looks like the company it’s for.

Each one was made from the company’s website and one profile, with no editing. Press one to play it.

From a job link to a reply.

  1. Your résumé, once

Upload it and name the role. It becomes your profile, and every number is copied from the résumé word for word.

  2. Paste a job link

coldopen reads the post and the company’s homepage: colors, logo, typeface, and the line or number they lead with.

  3. Check the take

The film answers one requirement from the post with your results. Rewrite any line and render a new take in a minute.

  4. Send it to one person

It suggests who to write to, including alumni of your school and people from your past teams, finds their email, and opens it in Gmail already addressed. You see when they watch.

Find the roles worth a film.

Open roles from 466 companies’ job boards, including 408 hiring YC startups, ranked by how well you fit.

YC startups, hiring fastest first

Every role carries its YC batch and how many roles the company posted this month. At a YC startup, the founders come first.

Who just raised, and how much

Companies that filed an SEC Form D in the last 3 months, filtered by round size. A round from the last month opens your email with congratulations.

Pay and visas, up front

Each role shows the pay its post lists and whether the company had H-1B petitions approved. Filter by minimum pay or sponsors.

Two openers, one winner

Half your emails open with the film, half with your best number. Today shows which one gets you more replies.

From reply to interview

Follow-ups come due sooner when they watch without replying. When they reply, you get the questions they’ll likely ask, answered from your own record.

Hiring? Pitch the role.

Candidates ignore InMail too. Recruiters and founders paste their job post and one candidate’s profile, and get a 30-second film in their own brand that answers the role with the candidate’s own results. No one in mind yet? Make a hiring film to post on LinkedIn instead.

  • Paste your job postThe film quotes one requirement, in your company’s colors and type.
  • Paste their profileThe answer is their own result, word for word: “You did this at…”
  • Send it with a short InMailUnder 400 characters, with a share link that shows when they watch.

It can’t make things up.

A recruiter spots an invented claim instantly. So these rules are checked in code on every line, not just asked of the AI.

  • Their words are quoted, never paraphrasedThe line from their site or job post is copied exactly.
  • Your results are shown word for wordStraight from your profile, which came from your résumé.
  • No invented numbersA number that isn’t on their site or in your profile gets the line rejected, including lines you edit.
  • No AI-sounding fillerShort lines, and phrases like “unlock”, “seamless” and “revolutionize” are banned.
  • Readable on any brandColors are checked for contrast, and text is fitted so nothing spills over.

Kill the renderer halfway. The film still finishes.

Every step is saved in Postgres by unkillable, a durable-execution engine built for this. A new worker picks up where the old one died and redoes nothing that finished. In its benchmark of 200 refunds with workers killed at random:

83customers refunded twice by a plain retry loop
0refunded twice with unkillable

Or run it on your own laptop, free.

You need Node 24 and ffmpeg. Add Groq’s free tier or a local model through Ollama for natural copy; without one, a built-in writer makes plain scripts that are always correct. It works for sales too: one film per prospect, with a CSV of share links.
